>>Bangin' On The South End 2nd Session! @ Shindig Martini Bar, Kent. May 09, 2009

Well, we've made it to the second session at Shindig. If this one turns out, we'll definitely be turning it into a bi-weekly type of thing. Same deal as before, plus one Dj. Also, this time, we'll be setting up the decks downstairs on the floor. At the first show, when we were spinning up on the balcony in the back of the bar, we heard a lot of people say that they couldn't see us; unacceptable! We feed of the crowd's energy, and the crowd feeds off of ours. Being down on the floor will fix that. Anyhoo, you know the deal: 21+, no cover, tasty, tasty drinks, and some great music. See ya's!

>>Bangin' On The South End, @ Shindig Martini Bar, Kent, March 14, 2009

We're not sure how this one will turn out. It could end up being a recurring show with guest Dj's, and other special treats for anybody that likes dance music and good drinks, who knows.
It'll really depend on whether or not people on the south side of Seattle want to come out and support it. After, say, two or three shows, if we're bringing in consistent business for
Shindig, then we can start thinking about getting more creative with the agenda. But for now it looks like it'll solely be me and AArok playing, which of course isn't a bad thing! I, for one,
believe we play very unique styles, rather than all the out-of-the-box electro house and breakbeat Dj's that plague the scene. If you want to hear that Seattle-style electro sound, get the
fuck back to Seattle so you can listen to the same tracks again and again. We don't play for the masses, we play styles that took years to craft, and are continually evolving as time goes
by. Hopefully, with a smaller crowd at first, we can develop a bit of a relationship with our audience, and get them to want to hear something different; they, in turn, attract others--who maybe just don't want to drive all the way up north just to hear some dance music and have a drink. We've gotta keep trying to keep the scene alive down here in the South county!

>>West Coast Ghetto Project, @ the LoFi, November 22, 2008>

Well, the project didn't exactly go as we'd hoped it would. The setup was top-notch, and all the Dj's were placed well with each other, no one's styles clashed with any of the ones before
them. There even seemed like there was a hint of progression to me, which could have very well just been an accident, but I like to think Suburban Bass knows what they're doing. It's just
as well though, there was hardly 50 people there to see it; and that was at the peak. I don't believe this was the promoter's fault though--advertising wasn't the problem either. It could have simply been a case of bad luck; it could have been the line-up of unknown Breakbeat and Techno Dj's in the front room (myself included!), combined with the entirely Ghetto-Tech -slash- Booty-House line-up in the main room. It was an event that showcased an extremely specialized music genre/style as the main attraction, which, as a patron of the show, I have to say
I thoroughly enjoyed, though the more popular music for the area; techno and breaks, were no doubt included in the show (almost like an afterthought) to try to provide something for a broader spectrum of folks into electronic dance music, and I think it did a decent job at that. I just think there was a little bit too much "original" music played that night, as opposed to the more mainstream stuff that the drunk bachelorette-type and her drunk girlfriend-types can dance to. It's also likely that it was just an unlucky night, and that there was a banger at LSC that everybody decided to go to. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie-Pop? We may never know.

Ah, well. You win some, you lose some. Next time, Gadget! Next time!

>>November 10, 2008>

Big news, everybody, fucking huge news! (At least around 120dB it is.) First of all, resulting from everybody that booked Retric in the past erroneously listing him on flyers as 'The Retric System,' (Which is his MySpace.com user name, and the title of his first Dj mix under the new pseudonym: 'The Retric System Of Measurement'), djCritter, AKA Retric, will be lengthening his alias! Thanks to a bunch of mistakes, the name is now The Retric System. Thanks!
The other piece of news: a new bit of music has finally come to 120dBr; Come Correct, a 66 minute house and techno mix put together by The Retric System, can be downloaded with a click to the link up above!
[edit] Had to take down that mix, "Come Correct," it wasn't good enough; after giving it an attentive listen, I decided it needed some more work. It'll be back up soon, check the Mixes page!

>>November 05, 2008>

I've been working on updating the 120dB logo, and it's been proving extremely difficult. I came up with several rough sketches before I came up with these here:

I'm trying to, err, "futurize" the logo I've been using since I came up with 120dB in the first place. It's a lot harder than I thought to make a simple, attractive logo containing the dB symbol along with the number 120, all the while remaining true to the original design (which I had tattooed on my back in 2002). I'll keep working on it, since I'm still not quite satisfied with either one, but any feedback would be awesome! -- Ah, yes, here's my original design, the one on my back:

Wordemup. Easy, everybody...

>>October 29, 2008>

Still no new mixes; there've been a good number of life-changing events happening in the last six months, and it was about all I could do to pay my web hosting bill. But new tunes are on the way, as I'll be recording live sets from myself (I'm The Retric System.:)), Sickboy, and possibly Bobby Numonik at The West Coast Ghetto Project. We're scheduled for Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the
LoFi Performance Hall // 429 Eastlake Ave // Seattle, WA.
Holler at your boy, dog. I'm your boy, so holler at me. Take care, folks! Till next time... -Critter

>>June 13, 2008>

This poor, innocent website has once again been suffering from complete neglect. But really, who ever came here to read the News section, anyway? I'm in the process of recording my next full-length mix, so there's about to be some new content; and really, isn't that the sole purpose of 120dbr.com? Free downloadable mixes. Word to your mother, I'll be beck soon, friends!

>>May 26, 2007>

120dBr was witness to a fire in Pioneer Square last Sunday, right after dropping them hot cuts at LSC, minutes before! (It was just an open decks night, ha) I guess they were just too hot though. ;)

Click me to play video!
Click picture to play. (real 3gp format) That's Jason from LSC, and Bobby Numonik standing in front. This fire is right behind Club Fuel.

>>May 19, 2007>

I've named  Myk, a good friend of mine, an honorary part of the 120dB crew, and I'm eager to see what he can do for us.  Also, 120dBr is soon to be in collaboration with Suburban Bass Recordings, which will greatly broaden our diversity in music styles, so don't be surprised if some new stuff starts popping up around here. There's a doin's a'happenin'! Y'all don't even know, yo.

Leave it to me,
Critter, 120dB Recordings

>>May 6, 2007>

I've finished the basic layout for all the main pages, uploaded two mixes (one by Retric, the other by Sickboy), and posted a few
choice pics. If you know what 120dbr.com looked like a week ago, then this will look quite spiffy to you. Otherwise, it's pretty
basic and austere; but, aesthetics aren't always paired with functionality, and when they are, it's expensive. :)
Well, now that it's finally up and running again, I hope this site serves its purpose. Any Seattle area up-and-coming Dj/Producer that
wants to have their mix/tunes hosted, contact us
File size is the restricted, but not too much. a 60min 128kbps mp3
for instance, would be optimal for a mix, and the same goes for singles. Keep it at 128kbps, and under 10min.

Till next time,
Critter, 120dB Recordings

>>Cinco de Mayo, 2007>

I've at last begun work at building up the site again. What a waste of a good drinking holiday. It had to be done though,
and I've got an open decks to attend on Sunday. Anyway, I still have a lot of work to do, and so far this news section is
working as just a filler for my front page. :) Till next time, remember: All disco dance must end in broken bones!

Respek!

The 120dB ninja.<<by brandon smith

The shady motherfucker in the background and I wrote this self-indulgent shizz:
Now I know what is real and what I feel, so now I must return to my life's journey of searching for the Three Purple Monkeys that look for the palm trees that grow no leaves, and only roots; and then I will know what I am here for.
The reason I'm around is the reason they all look at me like I'm crazy. I'm there because I like them to be perplexed. When they see beyond the facade, they'll look in the mirror.
And then they shall know their true power with me showing them the energy of their collective souls. I will point the way, and the beginning shall start.
This will be the cause throughout, One-Hundred-Twenty is the number you get at, and once you're there you know what it's about. Show ME the way and you'll see yours.
It can change the thoughts of collective consciousness to move you to the greater good, and there shall be a selective few who rise to help lead the way. Those that are blind to the way may be forever banished to a hell of Paul Van Dyk, surrounded by 12-year-old kandy kid raver rejects.
Those chosen, forever witness divine perception of what will be the golden discovery of their new faith. This faith will bring into being the New Elektro-Prog Movement. And they shall be part of it.
Then shall the true power of The Decibel at 120, and 120 only will be brought to the world, etching it into history to lead the way until the full effect of its potential is realized, and once it is there, it will move on again.
And 120dB will still be the one you follow.

So that's our cult. Y'all know you want in, right? Cuz you don't know, you don't know!
